Born 1966, in Hamburg, Germany, I have cultivated a diverse and enriching career in the
field of medicine, particularly focusing on anesthesiology and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
My medical journey began with pursuing a degree in Medicine at the University of Essen,
Germany. During this time, I had the opportunity to expand my medical knowledge
through an internship in Chinese Medicine at Beijing Medical University in China in 1991.
My professional career commenced in 1993 as a resident in Anesthesiology, Intensive Care
Medicine and Pain Management. From 1998 to 2002, I served as the Head and Founder of
the Chinese Medicine Pain Clinic at St. Josef Hospital, Gelsenkirchen. Concurrently, I have
been a lecturer at the Akademie für Akupunktur und TCM since 1999, contributing to the
education of future practitioners in collaboration with the Medical Association in Westfalen
– Lippe.
In the late 90s, I furthered my education in acupuncture and Chinese medicine under the
guidance of Jörg Kastner at the Akademie für Akupunktur und TCM (AfAT), in collaboration
with the Medical Association in Westfalen – Lippe, Germany. Since then I have engaged in
continuous professional development, attending courses on acupuncture and Chinese
philosophy with esteemed instructors such as Francois Ramakers, Barbara Kirschbaum,
Giovanni Maciocia, Radha Tambirajah, Julian Scott, Joan Duveen, and Jeffrey Yuen.
Since 2002, I have been practicing acupuncture full-time in private practice. My
commitment to professional growth continued with an internship under Joan Duveen in
the Netherlands since 2003, and I was allowed to serve as his assistant in seminars on
acupuncture according to the philosophy of Stems and Branches from 2010 until 2020.
In addition to my medical qualifications, I have pursued further education in yoga, studying
in the tradition of T.K.V. Desikachar since 1995. I completed training in Suggestopedia in
2000 and led courses in guided meditations while teaching yoga from 2002 to 2004.
I am an active member of several professional organizations, including the Medical
Association Westfalen – Lippe (ÄKWL) since 1993, the “Arbeitsgemeinschaft für
Traditionelle Chinesische Medizin” (AGTCM e. V.) 1999 – 2021, and the “Qualitätsinitiative
Akupunktur,” organized by the “Deutsche Akupunktur Gesellschaft” since 2002.
This diverse background in both Western and Eastern medical practices, combines with my
commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
My passion for Traditional Chinese Medicine is deeply intertwined with my fascination for
the interplay between yin and yang—the fundamental dualities of female and male
energies, as well as the dynamic relationship between heaven and earth. This
understanding has profoundly enriched my life, allowing me to appreciate the balance
and harmony that exists within ourselves and the world around us. The principles of yin
and yang have not only informed my practice but have also shaped my worldview,
guiding me to seek equilibrium in all aspects of life. This holistic perspective has enhanced
my ability to connect with patients on a deeper level, recognizing the intricate balance of
energies that influence their health and well-being
