Tae Hunn Lee started his education in Acupuncture at the ‘International College of Oriental Medicine’ (ICOM) in England in 1999. ICOM was founded by the late Dr. van Buren in 1972 and has been dedicated to the research, practice and teaching of what is today widely known as Stems & Branches Acupuncture.
Dr. van Buren was still practicing at the college clinic and together with his wife, Pauline van Buren, who was principal of ICOM, was still very much involved in the content and curriculum of the then 4-year course. He infused ICOM with the spirit and ethos that acupuncture is applied philosophy paired with a deep understanding of the cycles, rhythms and inter-actions of heaven, earth and humanity.
By that time, Dr. van Buren and his wife Pauline, except for a few lectures, where not so much involved in the actual teaching anymore, though their clinics were open to students and colleagues to observe them when treating patients and to learn pulse diagnosis.
Joan Duveen was responsible for teaching Stems & Branches philosophy and its practical applications at ICOM, and I have been studying closely with him since those days.
A few years after graduating, I started teaching at ICOM, and in the past years also internationally, on subjects of 5 Phases, Point Energetics, Stems & Branches Acupuncture and Pulse Diagnosis.
